Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently asked questions
How many sessions will I/we need?
Psychotherapy does not provide a quick fix, but rather works over time to create meaningful change. Every client is different, but Emotionally Focused Therapy can create new and effective ways of understanding, feeling, thinking and behaving in as few as 8 sessions. For highly distressed individuals or couples, 20+ sessions may be required.
What if I cannot afford the full fee?
We believe that everyone should be able to access quality mental health support. If you are genuinely unable to pay the full cost of therapy, please contact us to discuss your situation. Courageous Being does offer a limited number of discounted sessions for people on low incomes.
Is my information private and confidential?
Everything you share within your therapy sessions, from the moment you first make contact, is confidential. No one outside the practice will even be able to confirm that you are attending Courageous Being without your written consent.
The only exception is that if your psychotherapist becomes concerned about your or someone else’s safety, steps may need to be taken to ensure that we are fulfilling our Duty of Care. As part of a person-centred practice, these steps will, wherever possible and appropriate, be discussed in collaboration with the client before action is taken.
Can I contact my therapist after-hours?
Courageous Being is unavailable after opening hours and is not an emergency service. If you require immediate support, please contact emergency counselling services, such as:
